Most Expensive - OX1

In 2025, OX1 tops the list for the most expensive postcode with an average price of £895,000.

OX1 is centred around the historic university city of Oxford’s core, as well as the surrounding neighborhoods such as Jericho, St Ebbes and Grandpont. With an estimated average property price of £895,000, making it the most expensive postcode in the region. The properties, set in medieval streets, range from prestigious university accommodations to modern apartment developments. The area particularly appeals to academics, students, and professionals who value being at the cultural and educational heart of the city, though limited space means gardens are rare and property prices reflect its premium location.

Cheapest - OX16

In 2025, OX16 is the cheapest area in Oxfordshire to buy a property with an average price of £300,000.

Covering Banbury and the surrounding rural areas such as Bodicote, Adderbury and Grimsbury, OX16 recorded an average property price of approximately £300,000 in 2025, making it the most affordable Oxfordshire postcode. As the northernmost major town in the county, situated closer to Birmingham than Oxford, the area offers excellent value for those who don’t require immediate proximity to Oxford’s academic hub or the London commuter belt.

While Banbury maintains its character as a historic market town with strong transport links, its position on the edge of the county naturally translates to more attainable property prices than its southern neighbors, making it an attractive option for first-time buyers and families seeking more space for their money.

Estimated Property Listings

In the United Kingdom, the average number of properties listed for sale in a postal area is roughly 4,000. The OX postcode sits just above the average with approximately 4,200 properties on the market, reflecting the desirability of the area in the central south of England.

Estimated National Property Listings Heatmap

In 2025, OX16 listed the most properties with ~350, and OX39 the fewest with ~30.

Least properties listed - OX39

Covering Chinnor and the surrounding rural areas such as Kingston Blount, Radnage and Crowell, properties were relatively scarce in the OX39 postcode in 2025 with approximately 30 listings. With a scenic location at the foot of the Chiltern Hills, it remains a sought-after area for those seeking a countryside setting while offering easy access to the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with its extensive network of walking and cycling trails.
